About SFM Foundation
SFM Foundation is a non-profit organization created to administer a post-secondary education scholarship program to benefit children of workers disabled or fatally injured in work-related accidents.
SFM Foundation was created in 2008 by SFM Companies, a regional workers' compensation insurance group headquartered in Bloomington, Minnesota. While SFM remains a major sponsor of the Foundation, the vast majority of scholarships have been awarded to the families of injured workers who are not insured by SFM.
Since its inception, SFM Foundation has awarded scholarships to 60 students whose parents were severely injured or killed in workplace accidents. SFM Foundation was created to have a positive impact on the community, and the scope of that impact grows with every family who can be helped by these scholarships.
SFM Foundation is dedicated to easing the burdens on families affected by workplace accidents. To achieve this, the Foundation provides post-secondary education scholarships to children of parents fatally or seriously injured on the job.
Scholarships are available to qualifying students whose parents have been disabled or fatally injured in the course of working for Minnesota or Wisconsin employers.
Each scholarship recipient is eligible for up to $5,000 per year and can receive scholarships annually through graduation from a two-year or four-year college, university or vocational school.
Scholarships are awarded regardless of which insurance company was involved in the workers' compensation claim.
